Duration of the procedure:
The procedure for approving applications by foundations is lengthy, but is usually expected to bear fruit already at the end of the first year, and in some cases even earlier. The success of the procedure and its duration depend to a large extent on the association’s effective and full cooperation with the Attorney General, including the transfer of the required documents, compliance with the deadlines established, persistence and willingness of the staff at the association to work in cooperation with the General Counsel’s staff.
What is required of the association?
The contact person who represents the association in front of the MLA must know the project in depth, provide the necessary paperwork, persevere, show seriousness, be optimistic, be organized and have a basic command of the English language and, above all, have patience. It is crucial to comply with the schedules that will be established and to have maximum flexibility in all matters to the requirements of the funds and the conditions they impose.
Chances of success:
The chances of success for most associations in the first year are tens of thousands of dollars, provided that the association is conducted properly and as required, and works in full cooperation. In the following years, to the extent that the success of the project is proven, its compliance with the established goals, use of donations for the purposes for which they were intended, proper conduct of the association and close cooperation with the Attorney General – the options before the association are many and varied.
